Immigration Fees

Candidates who apply for permanent residency to Canada have to pay government processing fees.

Fees Required by the Canadian Authorities

There are two fees to be paid when applying for immigration to Canada: processing fee and Right of Landing Fee (ROLF). The processing fee must be paid when the application is submitted to the Visa Office. The processing fee is non-refundable whether the application is approved or not.

• Skilled worker applicant: CDN $550.
• Business applicant: CDN $1,050.
• Sponsorship applicant: CDN $550.
• Each dependent 22 years and over: CDN $550.
• Each dependent under 22 years: CDN $150.

• CDN $490

This fee is payable by the principal applicant, the accompanying spouse and the accompanying children above 22 years old; but unlike the processing fee, it is refundable if an Immigrant Visa is not issued or used, or if the application is withdrawn. The ROLF can be paid at any time during the application process, but must be paid before an Immigrant Visa can be issued.

The following applicants are not required to pay this fee:

• dependent children of a principal applicant or sponsor
• a child to be adopted
• an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew or grandchild

You will have to pay the fees related to obtaining:

• Your medical examination
• Police certificates
• Language testing
• International English Language Testing System
• French evaluation test

The ROLF is required of every adult aged 19 or over in the family but, unlike the processing fee, is refundable if an Immigrant Visa is not issued or used, or if the application is withdrawn. The ROLF can be paid at any time during the application process, but must be paid before an Immigrant Visa can be issued.

Fees Required by the Quebec Authorities

The Quebec authorities require a fee for applicants who wish to settle in the province of Quebec. This fee is payable at the beginning of the procedure and is non refundable in case of refusal. This fee is in addition to the ones required by the Canadian authorities.

• Independent applicant: CDN $406.
• Entrepreneur and self-employed applicant: CDN $988.
• Investor applicant: CDN $4,003.
• Sponsorship applicant: CDN $260.
• Each dependant (including spouse): CDN $ 156.
